ReelBean Help

ReelBean
Exporting movies to your iPod
1) Choose the "Open File..." option in the File menu.
2) All of the controller buttons should then be enabled to allow playing/controlling of the movie.
3) Click the red button and a drawer should open (make sure you don't have the window maximized to the full screen, or the drawer won't show.)
4) Select the iPod option from the list in the drawer and click the Export button at the bottom of the drawer.
5) An export progress window should be displayed while the conversion operation is in progress.
6) When the conversion is finished you should have a file with the .m4v extension in the location you've specified.
7) Open iTunes and drag the converted file onto the iTunes window.
8) When it's finished copying into iTunes, connect your iPod and the movie should be transferred to your iPod.

Retaining widescreen format for iPod conversions
(v0.99)
If you find that using the iPod conversion option does not retain the widescreen aspect ratio of the movie you can use the following method:
1) Select MPEG4 in the export drawer.
2) Choose file format mp4.
3) Choose video format H.264.
4) Choose image size Custom and then enter the required width (less than or equal to 320) and height (less than or equal 240).
5) Select preserve aspect ratio using letterbox.
6) In the video options, choose baseline.
7) In the video options, choose best quality encoding mode.
The mp4 file created using these options should retain the required widescreen format and be playable on your iPod.

Exporting movies in other formats
1) Choose the "Open File..." option in the File menu.
2) Click the red button and a drawer should open (make sure you don't have the window maximized to the full screen, or the drawer won't show.)
3) Select the required export format from the list in the drawer and click the Export button at the bottom of the drawer.
4) An export progress window should be displayed while the conversion operation is in progress.
5) When the conversion is finished you should have a converted file with the same filename on your desktop.

Windows Media Files
(v0.99)
The full range of export options are not available for WMV files. If you have components installed that support playing of these files
, such as Flip4Mac, then ReelBean can use them to play WMV files. You can then convert WMV files to QuickTime files using the Save As... item from
the File menu.

Adding an Audio Track
An audio track can be added to a movie using the Edit menu and then either of the Add Audio Track items under that menu. Currently the
audio file being added must be of MP3 or AAC (M4A) format. If the movie you are editing already has other audio tracks you can use the
Extract Movie Tracks item under the Window menu to disable the required tracks to allow only the new audio track to be audible.

Using the Scene Jumper
1) High definition and very long movies can take a little while for the scene drawer to load completely, so if this becomes too intrusive the drawer can be closed and subsequent opening of movies will not cause the scene drawer to be loaded.

Extracting audio from movies directly into iTunes
(Note: this feature is not yet implemented for the Intel version of ReelBean.) The Extract Movie Tracks option in the Window menu will display a window listing the media tracks inside the movie. At the bottom of the window displayed there is a button marked "Extract Audio to iTunes." Clicking this will cause the audio to be extracted from the movie into an AIFF file on your desktop. A dialog window is then displayed to allow immediate import of the file into your iTunes library, using either MP3, WAV or AAC compression. Audio cannot be extracted from an MPEG1 Muxed movie.

DVD Playback
DVD playback currently supports only DVD discs, not DVD volumes stored on your hard disc.

Editing movies
1) From the Edit menu, select the Show Edit Controller item.
2) To make a selection in the movie controller, click the shift key and drag the mouse over the controller to select the required section.
3) The editing items in the Edit menu can then be used to manipulate the selected section as required.

Known Bugs
1) When using the Extract audio into iTunes feature, if the movie has already been extracted and the extracted file is on your desktop, the extraction will not run to completion again. Remove the file from your desktop and re-run the operation if necessary. For this bug, the progress indicator will also continue to spin even though the operation has completed.
